Our villa, “The Old School”, is located in the village of Plana, known as one of the most powerful energy spots near Sofia. Just 36 kilometers from the capital, you will find yourself in a region of pure, fresh air flowing from the four surrounding mountains: Vitosha, Rila, Plana, and Verila. Here, you can escape the hustle and bustle of daily life and rediscover a sense of peace, caressed by the sun and surrounded by the fresh breath of the mountains.

Villa “The Old School” is a former two-story schoolhouse, masterfully renovated in a classic rustic style. It offers a cozy retreat, featuring natural wood, exposed stone, and traditional motifs. Crafted entirely from natural materials, the villa allows you to feel connected to nature at every turn. The primary accent is on wood, showcased in all its forms and transformations.

The villa accommodates a maximum of 12 guests. The sleeping arrangements consist of one double room (with an option for an extra bed) and two quad rooms. One quad room is furnished with two large double beds, while the second features two twin beds and a bunk bed. These room configurations are ideal for families with children.

On the ground floor, you will find a sunny living room with comfortable sofas, a dining area, and a professional pool table. There is also a game room equipped with a poker table for evenings by the fireplace, a professional chessboard, a dartboard, foosball (table football), and a variety of board games. The spacious kitchen is fully equipped with new, modern appliances and has everything you need to prepare and serve meals. The kitchen includes both gas and electric hobs, an oven, a refrigerator, an ice maker, a bean-to-cup coffee machine, a capsule coffee machine, a frappe mixer, a toaster, a sandwich press, a blender, and more.

A highlight of the villa is our superb SPA area, featuring a year-round heated Jacuzzi, an ice-cold plunge tub, a Finnish sauna, a phyto steam barrel (a personal steam bath), an ice bucket shower, and both indoor and outdoor relaxation areas.

For our younger guests, there is an indoor play area complete with various board games, a play kitchen, and toys.

The villa boasts a spacious garden with an outdoor barbecue (BBQ), a covered outdoor dining area with seating for 14, and private parking for up to four vehicles.

In the area around Plana village, you will find the Buddhist Stupa of Enlightenment. It is said that the stupa grants wishes and brings joy and love to those who visit. Another popular spot for photographers is the Orthodox Church of Saint Cyprian, who is known as the protector against evil spirits, as well as the nearby ‘Holy Spirit’ Chapel. For equestrian enthusiasts, there are two horse riding centers nearby offering lessons and treks. The area is perfect for hiking, leisurely walks, mountain sports, and cycling. You can also visit the Plana Satellite Ground Station. In the region, there is a charming little eco-farm where you can see rare local breeds like the Karakachan dog and Rhodopean cattle, alongside horses and sheep. There, you will also have the opportunity to taste and purchase authentic, natural Bulgarian dairy products.

Equestrian Centers

In and around the village of Plana, you can find several equestrian centers that offer a variety of services related to horse riding tourism. Here are some of them:

1. “Plana” Equestrian Center – Offers riding lessons, trail rides, and organized tours through the natural landscape. It’s an ideal place for both beginners and experienced riders.
2. “Vitosha” Equestrian Center – Located near the village of Plana, this center offers various routes for trail rides, as well as riding lessons.
3. Scenic Trail Rides in the Area – Many of the local centers also offer organized rides through the picturesque surroundings, including scenic mountain trails.

The “Plana” Ground Station for Satellite Communications is a key and historically significant telecommunications facility in Bulgaria.

“ELATA” ECO-FARM

Here you can see traditional Bulgarian animal breeds, including Karakachan dogs, horses, sheep, Rhodope cattle, and other interesting species. The farm organizes “green weekends” and an “eco-academy.” Visitors also have the opportunity to taste authentic, all-natural Bulgarian products.

St. Cyprian Chapel

The chapel is new and well-maintained. It offers a unique view that is a true paradise for professional and amateur photographers in all seasons. It reveals a panoramic vista of the village of Plana and Vitosha Mountain.

Inside, there is a small table with candles that any visitor may use. Outside, under a tree, there is a bench and a table where one can enjoy the surrounding silence, offering an opportunity for a moment of quiet reflection and rest.

A trail begins at St. Cyprian’s leading to the Alino Monastery of the “Ascension of the Lord” (also known as “Sveti Spas”) and to the “Alinsko Kale” fortress.

Chapel of the Holy Spirit

This chapel is located in the northern part of the village of Plana. There are convenient parking spots nearby and a signpost directing visitors to Manastirishte Peak.
